Sony Pictures - CCTV
Heston Apex Europe was given a remit to upgrade the existing access control and CCTV system to an IP based solution at Sony Pictures’ premises at 30 Golden Square, whilst continuing to maintain their existing equipment and security solutions.
Part of this brief was to design and build a fully contained control room. This control had to be able to facilitate other Sony locations spread across Europe. Each discipline and site is fully viewable and can be administered from this one location.
Heston Apex Europe brought Lenel to the client as a global based partner. Sony’s decision to expand this coverage throughout the globe was a strategic corporate security implementation that we are heavily involved with.
All cabling requirements were undertaken via our in-house structured cabling division. This allowed us to manage the project with a time effect conclusion.
The existing access control system (Identipass) previously installed at 30 Golden Square was upgraded to a Lenel OnGuard solution in consultation with Sony Pictures. An element of this installation was to reduce wall space within the Communications Room. From this remit we designed and built a fully scalable rack mountable solution. This allowed the client to maximise racking levels within the Communications Room
All works were carried out not only whilst the building was being occupied, but occupied at normal capacity and continuing with all day-to-day activities. This in itself presented issues. However, through our design, planning and project management the installation went in seamlessly.
Once this was complete, decommissioning of the Identipass System took place allowing the finalisation of the Lenel installation
The specification for the CCTV works at 30 Golden Square was tailored to ensure it fitted with the criteria set by Sony Pictures. The large-scale work included the design, cabling, installation and commissioning of 23 Sony DF-40 mini-dome cameras internally and 4 RX550 cameras externally.
All cameras are linked to Sony NSR-100 Server, which support up to 480 fps, and offer great flexibility and scalability when configured. Sony RealShot software has been installed for the management of the system. RealShot Manager Software allows existing video networked surveillance systems to be expanded, both quickly and at low cost, by adding extra video network devices such as cameras and file servers. Depending on network infrastructure, it can be set up as an individual control station for local monitoring and recording – and simultaneously act as a building block for a centralised IP-based video surveillance system connecting multiple sites. This software affords the client with the ability to customize layouts, whilst ensuring that recording settings are changeable according to need.
